Suspect in Mashpee Attempted Murder Captured in New Hampshire

A man wanted in connection with a violent domestic assault and battery in Mashpee on Friday evening was apprehended without incident last night in northern New Hampshire.

According to a news release issued by the Mashpee Police Department, Scott A. Rigsby, 44, of Mashpee, allegedly fled on foot after the attack which occurred shortly before 11 PM on December 27.  An exhaustive search which included assistance from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit failed to result in the capture of Mr. Rigsby.

A follow-up investigation into the incident revealed that the suspect had fled the state and was in New Hampshire, the press release indicated. A warrant for his arrest for assault with intent to murder, and domestic assault and battery was subsequently issued.

Yesterday, New Hampshire State Police took Mr. Rigsby into custody in the town of Dalton.  He was arraigned in the Lancaster, NH District Court where he was held on $25,000 cash bail.
He was then transported to the Coos County Jail where he was awaiting arraignment today on a fugitive from justice charge.
