Aaron Zelig Dern of Mashpee, 73, died unexpectedly on June 13.
Mr. Dern was known as Zel. He was a practicing dentist for over 40 years, and spent 10 years volunteering as a dentist with Bridge over Troubled Waters.
He enjoyed designing, building, and creating custom furniture and stained glass with Sheila S. Dern, his wife of 49 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dern leaves his daughter, Jaime Bordwin and her husband, David Bordwin, of Bridgewater; his son, David Dern and his wife, Maureen Dern, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and six grandchildren, Katie, Teagan, Jacob, and Dominic Dern, and Daniel and Isaiah Bordwin.
Visiting hours will be held today, June 16, from 2 to 3 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A memorial service will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home.
The family will receive visitors at the Dern residence Monday and Tuesday, June 16 and 17, from 7 to 9 PM. Visiting hours will also be held at the Bordwin home on Wednesday, June 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Internment will be private.
