Alice Bartlett, 87, of Falmouth died August 10 at Royal Cotuit Care Center in Mashpee.
She was born in East Bridgewater, the daughter of Astrid (Nordquist) and John Paul Mondeau. She earned her nursing degree from Simmons College.
Ms. Bartlett married her high school sweetheart, Robert Bartlett, on Valentine’s Day 1953. They were married for 37 years until Mr. Bartlett’s death in 1990.
She and her husband moved to Boylston in 1958. She began working as a part-time nurse at Tahanto Regional High School in 1962. She later attended night classes at Worcester State College.
After receiving her master’s degree in health education, Ms. Bartlett taught nursing at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester.
Ms. Bartlett enjoyed traveling. She and her husband visited the Dominican Republic, and in 2005 she visited Maui with her daughter, Lynne. She also took frequent trips to visit her daughter’s family in Oregon. Ms. Bartlett and her husband also enjoyed sailing in Falmouth Harbor, as well as boating in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Her parents owned the Harbor View Motel in Falmouth. In 1986, Ms. Bartlett and her husband moved next door to the motel to care for her mother. During this time, Ms. Bartlett also worked part time as a nurse at Barnstable County Hospital.
In her later years, Ms. Bartlett moved into senior housing near the harbor.
She leaves three children, Bruce Bartlett and Dennis Bartlett, both of Falmouth, and Lynne Bartlett of Halfway, Oregon; granddaughters, Tecala McGraw and Robin Bishop of Ashland, Oregon, and Elena Bishop of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Ms. Bartlett was the sister of the late John Paul Mondeau II.
