Brenda Elizabeth Richerson, 74, of Mashpee, a tribal elder with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, died August 19.
She was the wife of James B. Richerson.
Ms. Richerson attended Mashpee public schools. In 1958, she graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth.
She retired from NStar Electric Company after 25 years of service.
After she retired, she worked for emergency preparedness for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
In addition to her husband, Ms. Richerson leaves her three children, Coleman Brown, Heidi DeBarros, and Gina Reeves; seven grandchildren, Keyana Brown, Rashad Brown, Brianna Pina, Anna Hendricks, Tony Reeves, Miko Reeves, and Corban Reeves; six siblings, Estella Booker, Nellie Ramos, Lafayette Hicks, Frederick Hines, Jr., Marjorie Seagraves, and Janet Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her mother, Bertha E. Hines, died in 2000. Ms. Richerson was also predeceased by her brother, Donald L. Hicks, who died in February, and her sisters, Pauline E. Hicks, who died in 2006, and Lucinda G. Lashley, who died in 1997.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 23, from 11 AM to noon at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A memorial service will begin at noon in the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Old Indian Cemetery in Mashpee.
