Bruce C. Kirtley of Galveston, Texas, 54, a Falmouth native, died at his home on July 5.
The son of the late Rollin A. Kirtley Jr. and Eleanore Kirtley, Mr. Kirtley grew up in Falmouth.
A former player at the Woods Hole Golf Club, he attended Falmouth High School, where he excelled in golf, winning numerous events as well as being named to the Boston Globe All-Scholastic in 1978. He also won the Cape Cod Pro Am Schoolboy Championship, the New England North East Junior Classic, and the Galveston County Golf Championship four times.
In 1978, Mr. Kirtley enrolled at Miami-Dade in Florida on a golf scholarship.
Later he moved to Galveston, Texas. He spent years in the restaurant industry, including the last 10 years as bar manager at La Griglia Restaurant.
He was a fan of the Boston Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox. He also liked to travel.
Mr. Kirtley leaves his sister, Carole Ann Kirtley; a brother, Richard W. Kirtley; and a niece, Kristin McCray Howard.
He was the brother of the late Barbara McCray; and the late Rollin A. Kirtley III.
A memorial service was held on July 11 at the J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home in Galveston.
