Charles Stanley Ericson, 73, of Falmouth died at home on May 14 after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Taglieri) Ericson.
Known as Eric, he was born in Washington, DC, the son of Stanley G. Ericson and Mary Jo Clark Ericson.
Following his graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1963, Mr. Ericson was a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, where he spearheaded the development of a countrywide educational television system. His interest and involvement in his Peace Corps experience continued throughout his life with his volunteer efforts for the Cape and Islands Returned Peace Corps Volunteers.
Mr. Ericson worked for many years in the insurance industry for the Lester Burdick Agency. He was a member of Toastmasters International for more than 45 years, served as an advisory board member of the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School, and also served on the Falmouth Commission on Disabilities and the Falmouth Beautification Council. He volunteered as a docent for the Falmouth Historical Society. Throughout his life he enjoyed the theater, and sang and performed in plays and musicals from his teenage years well into his retirement years. He also enjoyed fishing and boating.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 16, from 4 to 7 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A).
A funeral service will be celebrated at 3 PM Saturday, May 17, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth, 840 Sandwich Road, East Falmouth.
Burial services will be private.
