Christopher Newton of Eastham, who leaves family in Sandwich, died at home on May 7 after a battle with cancer. He was 52.
He worked for the state Department of Youth Services for 18 years as the assistant facility director. He was also a commercial fisherman for many years.
Mr. Newton leaves his wife of 32 years, Julie (Rabbitt) Newton; his daughter, Teresa Newton of Yarmouth; his sons, Jonathan Newton of Chatham and Michael Newton of Eastham; his parents, Gerald and Diane Newton of Eastham; two brothers, Bob Newton of Ashland and David Newton of Plymouth; two sisters, Kathleen Beaulieu of Sandwich and Cindy Leahy of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 12, at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans.
Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham.
