Word has been received that David James-Wingate Parrott, 87, of East Sandwich died on April 8. He leaves family in Falmouth.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Patricia Phinney Parrott, who died in 2008.
Mr. Parrott was born in Medford and grew up in Scituate. He joined the US Navy in 1945 at age 17 while attending Scituate High School. While in the Navy he worked in communications on planes and in Shemya in Alaska's Aleutian Islands during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He also worked for the US Air Force and the US Army.
Later, Mr. Parrott worked on communications for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He was also in the National Honor Guard and worked as a radio dispatcher for the Sandwich Police Department.
He leaves his four children, Scott Parrott and his wife, Janice Parrott, of Voorheesville, New York, Stephen Parrott and his wife, Nancy Parrott, of Ithaca, New York, Brian Parrott of Framingham, and Lee Parrott LaFrance and her husband, Ryan LaFrance, of Falmouth. He also leaves six stepchildren, numerous grandchildren and many extended family members.
A ceremony will be held on Friday, June 20, at 1 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
