Deborah Sue (Johnson) Willman of Mashpee died on April 30 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was 59.
She was the daughter of Barbara Urner Johnson and the late Gordon K. Johnson.
Ms. Willman was born in Seattle and spent the majority of her life in Bakersfield, California. She attended local schools, was in the first graduating class at Highland High School in Bakersfield, and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Chapman College in Orange, California.
After college she worked in the insurance industry and for the Bakersfield Police Department.
In her early school years she competed in track and field. She also participated in the USA Tour for high school students and the World Campus Afloat in college.
She enjoyed books, needlework and listening to music, especially musical theater. She loved animals, particularly her two shih tzus.
Ms. Willman moved from California to Massachusetts in 2013.
In addition to her mother, she leaves her children, twins Karen Willman of the Marshall Islands and Keith Willman and his wife, Stacy Willman, of Mashpee, and son Craig Willman of Richmond, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Taylor and Alexa Willman of Mashpee; and three siblings, Cynthia Johnson-George of McLean, Virginia, Lorin K. Johnson of Los Altos Hills, California, and Douglas Johnson of Boulder, Colorado.
Visiting hours are from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 6, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 7, in the funeral home, followed by burial in Great Neck Woods Cemetery, Mashpee.
