Dorothy R. Slesinski

Dorothy R. Slesinski, 91, of Mashpee died on June 28. She leaves family in Bourne.

Ms. Slesinski was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Frank A. Slesinski. They were married for 61 years.

She was born and raised in West Helena, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert and Nellie Kent Schieffler.

She graduated from the former Woodruff High School and attended Bayonne General Hospital School of Nursing in Bayonne, New Jersey. She became a registered nurse in 1945.

Ms. Slesinski was awarded the Dr. L.F. Donohue Medal for the highest average in theoretical work.

She served as a staff nurse in hospitals in New York City and Helena, Arkansas, before finishing her nursing career at Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

After getting married in 1948, Ms. Slesinski worked as the administrative assistant in her husband’s medical practice in Worcester for 50 years.

While living in Worcester, she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Worcester City Hospital Aid Society, and the Guild of Our Lady of Providence.

She and her husband moved to Cape Cod in 2003.

Ms. Slesinski leaves her children, Carolyn A. Slesinski and her husband, Michael Spivack, of Mashpee, the Reverend Robert F. Slesinski of Mashpee, Frank A. Slesinski Jr., and his partner, the Reverend Neil A. Tadken, of Monrovia and Palm Springs, California, Michael J. Slesinski and his wife, Sharon, of Fremont, California, and John G. Slesinski and his wife, Lorraine Saviano, of Bourne; four grandchildren, including Taylor M. Slesinski of Bourne; one sister; one brother; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Slesinski was predeceased by her infant son, Thomas Slesinski; a sister; and a brother.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 4 to 7 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Falmouth.

A memorial service will be offered by her son, Father Robert, on Wednesday, July 2, at 10 AM at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.

Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hadley.
