Emma (Marshall) Souza, 96, who leaves family in Sandwich, died on June 14 at her home in East Falmouth.
Mrs. Souza was born to Antone and Irene (Ferreira) Marshall and attended school in Falmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Manuel G. Souza, who owned and operated Souza Texaco in East Falmouth for many years prior to his death in 1993.
She enjoyed cooking for friends and family members, as well as telling stories of working with her mother both in the strawberry fields and cleaning houses. She also enjoyed taking trips to play the slot machines at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
She attended St. Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth and in her younger years was a member of the church’s women’s auxiliary.
Mrs. Souza leaves her children, Ronald J. Souza of East Falmouth, and Renee Kidwell and her husband, Ralph Kidwell, of Port Charlotte, Florida; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Elaine Costa of Sandwich and Elizabeth Motta of East Falmouth.
In addition to her husband Ms. Souza was predeceased by her brothers, Manny and Walter Marshall, and her sisters, Irene Jacinto and Hilda Valerio.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in tthe morning on June 18 at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 E. Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth.
Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
