Ernest J.M. Farren, 72, of Mashpee and Englewood, Florida, died unexpectedly at Falmouth Hospital on July 7.
He was married to Mary P. (Gilboy) Farren for 49 years.
The son of the late Ernest and Barbara Farren, Mr. Farren attended public school in Weymouth.
He served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Mr. Farren retired from Verizon, where he had worked for more than 40 years.
He was commander of the VFW Post in Englewood.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Farren leaves his children, Christine McCaffrey, Michelle Farren, and David Farren and his wife, Heather Farren, all of Mashpee; one brother, Ronald Farren of Texas; two sisters, Carole Ann White of Florida and Jeanne Zaborski of Rockland; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 10, from 3 to 8 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 11, at 11 AM at Parish of Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Road, Mashpee.
Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
