James E. Eldridge, 55, a former Bourne resident, died at his home in Corbin, Kentucky, on March 26 after a brief illness.
Mr. Eldridge grew up and went to school in Bourne, graduating from Bourne High School in 1976.
He worked as a fish cutter at Captain Harris Fish Market in Buzzards Bay for many years. He then joined the Otis Fire Department, remaining there for many years and ending his career as a lieutenant.
Fifteen years ago Mr. Eldridge moved to Corbin, Kentucky, where he worked as a cross-country truck driver.
He leaves his three children, Amanda Eldridge of Chatham, Daniel Eldridge of Wareham and Tiffany Eldridge of Plymouth; a grandson, Asante Eldridge; his father and stepmother, Robert and Karen Eldridge of Bourne; his brothers, Robert Eldridge Jr. of Bourne, and Ronald Eldridge of St. Augustine, Florida; his stepsister, Tara Warren of Bourne; and several nieces.
Mr. Eldridge was predeceased by his mother, Marie Eldridge; and by his stepbrother, Dana Wicklund.
Burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
