James Edward Ryan, 70, of Bourne died August 8 after several years of declining health.
Mr. Ryan was born and raised in Northboro, the son of the late Edward and Agnes Ryan. He lived in Bourne for almost 20 years.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for Avery Dennison in Milford for more than 40 years.
An avid race car driver, Mr. Ryan was the 1969 Grand Slam Champion at Westboro Speedway. He also enjoyed boating on the “Amy Lou” while fishing for striper and bluefish.
He leaves his wife, Carol Ryan; his son, Shawn Ryan and his wife, Tara Ryan; his daughter, Amy Sanborn and her husband, Geordie Sanborn; his stepson, Johnny Pomfred Jr.; his stepdaughter, Lori Dewar and her husband, Jamie Dewar; and his nine grandchildren.
Mr. Ryan was the father of the late Timothy James Ryan, who died in 2013.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 13, from 4 to 7 PM in Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne.
Burial will take place at Oakland Grove Cemetery, Bourne.
