John W. Kaskon, 78, of Sandwich died on May 25 at Cape Cod Hospital.
Born, raised, and educated in Natick, Mr. Kaskon was the son of Benedict and Veronica (White) Kaskon. He entered the US Marine Corps in 1953 and served as a corporal with the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War.
He married Mildred (Kenney) Kaskon in 1960. The couple settled and raised a family in Natick.
Mr. Kaskon worked for 37 years as a distribution manager for Star Market. He worked in the company’s Norwood warehouse before retiring. Later, he worked for the Cape Cod Times in Hyannis for 15 years.
Several years after the end of his marriage, he moved with his partner, Nancy Deneen, to Cape Cod in 1987, where they lived and raised their granddaughter, Chelsi Blue, for 23 years.
Mr. Kaskon coached Pop Warner Football in Natick, and was an avid New England Patriots fan.
He leaves his children, Terri Vinnicombe and her husband, Kevin Vinnicombe, of Natick, Tammy Amoroso and her husband, Albert Amoroso, of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, and John Kaskon Jr. of Waterboro, Maine; three grandchildren, Nicole Kelly, Jordyn Kaskon, and Braden Kaskon; and two great-grandchildren, Haileyanna and Lajayceon White.
He also leaves his sisters, MaryEllen Bush and her husband, Allen Bush, Jean Tancrede and her companion, Paul Graham, and Janet Truibiano and her husband, Dino Truibiano, all of Natick; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Kaskon was predeceased by Ms. Deneen and by his former wife, Mildred Kaskon.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, South Natick.
