Joseph Hoogendyk, 91, of East Falmouth died August 21 at Falmouth Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Sarah Ann (Nesbitt) Hoogendyk. They were married for 65 years.
Born in Northbridge, Mr. Hoogendyk was the son of William and Elizabeth (Harringa) Hoogendyk.
He worked as a first class tool maker at the Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 28 years. He also was a longtime employee of Packaging Industries in Hyannis.
He was a former resident of Douglas.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hoogendyk leaves two children, Kathleen Cummings and James Hoogendyk and his wife, Penny Hoogendyk, all of Falmouth; two grandchildren, Toby Bombara and Sheri Edsell, both Falmouth; three great-granddaughters, Sarah, Reagan, and Hailey Edsell, all of Falmouth; his sisters, Theresa Shaffer of Hubbardston and Henrietta Hoogendyk of Whitinsville; and his brother, Arthur Hoogendyk of Whitinsville.
Mr. Hoogendyk was the brother of the late Elsie Marean, Annie Heerdt, and Priscilla Hoogendyk.
A graveside service was to be held today, August 25, at 1 PM at Pinegrove Cemetery in Whitinsville.
