Lillian P. Bromley

Lillian P. (Griffin) Bromley of Sagamore Beach and St. Petersburg, Florida, died in Florida on March 26 after a brief illness. She was 97.

She was married for 63 years to C. Chester Bromley, who died in 2001.

Mrs. Bromley served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Buzzards Bay and at the veterans hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

She enjoyed spending time with the Catholic Guild and the craft group at St. Margaret Catholic Church.

When living in Bridgewater, she was very involved with the Catholic Women’s Club at St. Thomas Aquinas. She also organized the Girl Scout cookie drive and volunteered at Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton.

She leaves a brother, Joseph N. Griffin of Bourne; her daughters, Cheryl Jones of Buzzards Bay, Mary Lou Gibbs of Sagamore Beach and Karen Rood of Centerville; six grandchildren, Tracey Goodwin of Sandwich, Jeffrey Bromley of Sandwich, Shane Sykes of Argyle, Texas, Tara Sykes Hill of Alexandria, Virginia, Cailyn Rood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Douglas Rood of Centerville; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son, Douglas P. Bromley.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 28, at 11 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, followed by burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
