Mary Jane (Twohig) Dean, 67, of East Sandwich died on April 12.
She was married to Robert J. Dean for 48 years.
Born in South Boston, she was the daughter of John T. and the late Eleanor M. Twohig and a 1964 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
Ms. Twohig, who loved music and dance, was trained in dance by Herci Marsden at the Brae Crest School of Ballet in Rhode Island.
She started a dance studio, the Dimensions Center of Dance, in a two-car garage on Lake Mirimichi in Plainville. The business outgrew the garage and moved to North Attleboro center, then expanded further and moved across the street. That gave her the space for a retail dance clothes and dance shoes store named The Dancer’s Drawer.
A second Dancers Drawer opened in Mashpee and closed a few years ago.
After 30 years in business she retired to East Sandwich.
She spent winters at her home in Naples, Florida.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her two sons, Robert J. Dean Jr. and his wife, Jill Dean, of North Attleboro, and Trevor J. Dean of Mansfield; three grandchildren; two sisters, Kathy Selfe of Brewster and Joanne Deay of East Sandwich; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, April 21, at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 22, at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, followed by burial at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
