Rodney Munn Ross, 84, of Mashpee died on July 28.
Mr. Ross was born in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of Robert Franklin and Margaret (Munn) Ross. He was raised in the countryside of the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania.
In 1952, he graduated from Miami University in Florida.
Mr. Ross served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed with the Air Defense on Hokkaido, the northernmost Island of Japan.
He married in New York City in 1959 before moving to Boston, where he began his 30-year career in the steel and aluminum business.
In 1964, Mr. Ross moved to Cape Cod, where he and his wife built a home and raised their family. He lived on the Cape for 50 years.
An avid golfer, Mr. Ross was one of the original members of the New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee.
Mr. Ross was an accomplished marathon runner, having run the New York City Marathon three times. He also traveled to Canada, Germany, Belgium, and London.
He leaves his daughters, Virginia Ross Callahan and her husband, David Callahan, and Brenda Ross; and two granddaughters, all of Scituate.
His wife, Anne Marie Ross, died in February 2010.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, at 10 AM in St. Jude’s Chapel at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.
