The values underlying my faith compel me to add my voice to the chorus concerning the unaccompanied and undocumented children who may be housed on the military reservation on the Cape. “Do under others...” comes to mind. If I or my community could not protect my child from being killed or abused, I might take the extreme measure of sending them—alone—to a place of greater safety and would desperately want them to find a welcome.
Our values also include respecting the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; as well as reaching toward the goals of community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
If we are not on this Earth to nurture all children, what are we here for? We can relax about this—it will turn out fine.
Kudos to the Enterprise for offering a welcome to them.
