The Sandwich 375 Committee hosted Daffodil Days with the Daffodil Festival on April 26 and the Ronan Tynan Concert on April 27. Each event was planned and hosted by amazing subcommittees led by Joanne Westerhouse and Amy Lynn Barber. On behalf of the Sandwich 375 Committee and its board of directors, I would like to thank these committees for their outstanding work to make these events so very successful, and here is why!
The Daffodil Festival team started planning over a year ago. They thought of everything from planting 7,500 daffodil bulbs to “paint the town yellow” to performers, food, music, and even a plan in case it rained. It did rain, but over 2,000 folks came from all over to see our daffodils, to attend the festival under the tents, and to comment: “well-organized,” “nicest, caring people,” “loved the kids’ tents and the performers,” “great music and delicious food,” “enjoyed Marshland’s chowder and lobster rolls,” and the praises keep coming.
We wish to also give a huge shoutout to the members of the police academy, who directed traffic in the cold rain; and the Sheriff’s Department for loaning and putting up the most tents ever and for picking up chairs and tables all over town; and to First Church and the Masons for loaning us tables and chairs.
The Daffodil Days continued the next day with the Ronan Tynan Concert. The committee was very thankful to have Amy Lynn Barber take the lead, given her vast experience of producing concerts worldwide and the results speak to her leadership and experience.
Lots of volunteers helped make this event a success. We offer our sincere thanks for lending a hand.
The Sandwich 375 Committee was glad to bring Daffodil Days back to Sandwich, thanks to these wonderful volunteers. Please make sure to thank them also when you see them.
