As a full-time resident of Falmouth, and also as your county sheriff, I ask that you consider a Yes vote on Question 3 on the upcoming May 20 ballot.
A hardworking committee of our local residents has diligently worked to raise $1.2 million in cash and in-kind private contributions to construct an athletic field, bleachers, press box, fencing, lighting, concession/bathroom building and a grass practice field on town property at Falmouth High School. Question 3 asks for $1,661,146 in public funds to make this project a reality.
Today’s youth are most at risk for getting themselves into trouble between the hours of 2 and 7 PM when school is out and there’s a lack of available activities. Any effort to occupy these at risk youth between these hours is money well spent.
Falmouth’s efforts to keep our young people occupied with athletics and other activities would only benefit our children and our community.
In addition, when we look at the cost of the legal system, police, the courts, legal fees and incarceration, the monies the community spends on prevention today will save Falmouth
taxpayers threefold over time. Please consider helping our youth by voting Yes on Question 3.
