A 36-year-old man was hurt Tuesday evening when he was struck by a car as he was walking along Route 6A near Long Hill Drive in East Sandwich.
Police responded to the scene at 7:41 PM and found the man conscious and complaining of injuries to his left arm and leg.
Police spoke with the driver, a 49-year-old man, who said he was traveling toward town when he struck the pedestrian. He said he did not see the man because it was dark and the pedestrian was dressed in black clothing. He told police that initially he did not know what he had hit.
The injured man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
A criminal investigations officer from the Barnstable county sheriff’s office was called out to photograph the scene and damage to the vehicle. The incident is still under investigation.
