Construction Slated To Start On Three Sandwich Roads

In the late summer, the fancy of a town department of public works turns to road construction.

The Town of Sandwich is no different. The public works department plans to start work in the first week of September on Dillingham Avenue, Kensington Drive and Piccadilly Road.

The work is set to last through mid-October, according to Stefan E. Masse, assistant director of public works.

Construction will consist of pavement reclamation, grading, binder course paving, structure adjustment, top course paving, driveway apron paving, shoulder work, and line painting.

Residents might run into delays on the roads during the course of construction, Mr. Masse said.

He estimates the combined cost of the work on the three roads at $500,000. The money is coming through state Chapter 90 funding for road upkeep.

Rafferty Fine Grading of Enfield, Connecticut, has been hired by the town as the reclamation, drainage structure repair and adjustment contractor on the project. P.J. Keating of Acushnet is the paving contractor.

The public works department can be reached at 508-833-8002.
