A Forestdale man was arrested last Friday (March 28) and charged with assaulting his girlfriend’s 72-year-old father.
The call came into police at 10:03 AM from the alleged victim, who lives with his daughter in a home on Jody Lane.
Police said that they could hear a man and woman yelling at each other in the background of the call.
When police arrived they said that they saw obvious signs of a struggle within the house and that the suspect was trying to hide in a bathroom.
According to the police report, Robert Hayes, 48, of Forestdale lived with the family involved in the disturbance.
Mr. Hayes is accused of pushing a door into the man and also pushing him away from the phone and trying to take the phone away from him as he tried to call police.
Both father and daughter told police that they will be seeking a restraining order against Mr. Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was arrested and charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the door), and assault and battery to intimidate the resident.
