Mashpee Man Arrested In Sandwich Home Invasion

A Mashpee man was arrested Saturday, July 5, after he reportedly broke into the Sandwich home of a woman he knew.

According to police, Bruce G. Bissett, 57, of Route 130, Mashpee, broke into the woman’s home on Main Street while she was sleeping. When the woman woke up, she told police she saw Mr. Bissett standing over her with a knife, threatening to kill her. She was able to escape her home and was helped by people in the area who saw her running. Police responded to the incident at 5:45 PM.

Mr. Bissett was found driving his car a short time later, not far from the victim’s home. He was stopped and taken into custody.

Following an investigation by Patrolman Michael P. Gumbleton, Mr. Bissett was charged with home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), threatening to commit a crime, and intimidation of a witness. Mr. Bissett was held without bail and was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday, July 7.
