Police are investigating reports of car break-ins in the Town Neck area of Sandwich.
Sandwich Police responded to reports of a white truck driving up and down Tupper Road at 11:31 PM on July 22. When police found the truck, it turned out that the male driver had been a victim of a car break-in on Wood Avenue and had been driving on Tupper Road in an attempt to find the person who broke into the vehicle.
The vehicle had been left unlocked. The man said a black stiletto knife and $50 were missing from the vehicle.
The victim said he saw a suspect, who appeared to be a man possibly in his late teens, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
The following day, at 11:06 AM, police responded to reports of a vehicle break-in on Burg Avenue that had reportedly occurred the night before. The victim found a couple of purses had been emptied out in the back seat of the car. Missing from the car were a knife, some loose change, and a pack of cigarettes. A criminal investigative officer also processed this scene.
A suspect has yet to be identified and both cases remain under investigation.
