Sandwich selectmen have voted to move forward with the sale of the town’s Golden Triangle acres to the development group that has proposed turning the land into a destination sports complex.
The selectmen vote was 5-0.
The development group has proposed an assortment of athletic and ballfields, two hotels, and retail buildings on the 56 acres of commercially zoned land in South Sandwich.
Their bid on the land was for $750,000 plus a $150,000 donation to the Sandwich Economic Initiatives Corporation.
They were one of two bidders for the town acres.
The second was Tsakalos Realty Trust, which had developed and owns the nearby Canterbury, Heritage, and Tradewinds plazas.
The trust had offered to buy just 16.75 of the acres for $1.1 million.
