Two teenage boys from Sandwich were charged Sunday with larceny for allegedly going door to door in a Forestdale neighborhood collecting money for Sandwich High School when according to the police they were planning to keep the cash.
Police were called to Greenville Drive for a report of the two boys soliciting donations for the high school student council. The residents who called said the boys seemed suspicious and “looked out of place.”
Police searched the neighborhood and recovered a box labeled “Sandwich High Student Council” and “Thank You for your Donation.” After speaking with 20 residents, the police were able to identify the suspects.
Both boys, each 17 years old, have been charged with larceny under $250. It was determined that $30 had been collected.
As of this time, not all victims who provided donations have been identified. Police encourage anyone who donated money to the suspects to contact Officer Daniel J. Perkins at the Sandwich Police Department at 508-888-3343, extension 341.
