Bourne Volleyball Sweeps Wareham to Win Seventh Straight

Another South Coast Conference opponent down as the Lady Canalmen volleyball team improved to 7-0 yesterday with a 3-0 victory over Wareham. Bourne won by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-11.
“We had a slow start , but a five-point service run by Chelsea Doucette finally got us going in the first game,” coach Aimee Jarominski said. “Chelsea earned four aces during that service run and the team rallied behind her.”
In the second game Colleen Brady dropped in three aces as part of an eight-point service run.
“The final game was led by Amanda Pomeroy as she went on a seven-point service run early in the game,” the coach said. “The match ended with an ace by junior Stefanie Fasoli.”
Amanda Pomeroy finished the night with 10 kills, four aces, and 15 service points. Brady had a total of five kills, four aces, and nine service points. Miranda Partosan hit well outside and delivered five kills. Doucette and Partosan also each had six service points.
The Bourne High School volleyball team continued its winning tear Monday with a 3-1 victory over visiting Greater New Bedford Voc Tech.
The Lady Canalmen took the first two games out of the gate by scores of 25-10 and 25-12. The Bears edged BHS in the third set 26-24, but the fourth belonged to Bourne as they slammed the door with a 25-13 victory.
“The girls came out serving strong and passing well in the first two games,” coach Jarominski said. “We slowed down a bit in the third game and GNBVT crept in by serving hard and blocking our attacks. We found our rhythm again in the fourth game.”
