RICH MACLONE/ENTERPRISE - Allison Kondracki performs the floor excercise last night during the first ever Falmouth-Mashpee combined gymnastics team meet, against Marshfield High. The meet was held at Flip Flops in Mashpee and the F-M team prevailed over the Rams, winning by a score of 134.9-117.3.

History was made on Thursday night when the Falmouth and Mashpee high schools’ cooperative gymnastics team competed for the first time as a varsity team. Not only were the Clippers and Falcons a combined team in action against an established Marshfield team, but they also were victorious at their home gymnasium, Flip Flops in Mashpee.

Behind several great all-around performances by key contributors, the locals defeated the Rams of Marshfield by a sizable margin, 134.9-117.3.

Taylor Dimond of Falmouth and Sydney Pinsonneault of Mashpee were the top two scorers for the home team on the balance beam. The vault saw Ian Irving of Falmouth, who is one of a handful of male competitors on the team for F/M, and Allison Kondracki of Mashpee secure the top scores for the team. Irving and Pinsonneault collected the top marks on the uneven bars.

Dimond and Pinsonneault both had the best scores for the team on the floor exercise. Dimond’s 33.7 points was the best all-around score for F/M, and Kondracki was very close to that number, finishing with a score of 33.6.

Next up for the team is a huge step up in competition. Powerhouse Barnstable will visit Flip Flops on January 7. BHS is the reigning state champion and opened the season with a win on Saturday against the cooperative team from Medfield/Ashland/Dover-Sherborn, winning 145-137.
