Oh, the irony of it all. Coach Pat Ball’s Mashpee High School girls’ lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season yesterday at Sturgis West, posting a 12-5 win over the Lady Navigators on the road. The coach was quite pleased to finally have his team pull out a W, but he hardly thought his team played its best. “Honestly, I think it was probably the worst we’ve played all season,” he said. “We’ve played some really good teams, and I thought we were better, but it’s nice to get the win.”

Mashpee led 5-2 at half-time, but Sturgis opened the second half by scoring two quick ones. From that point forward, though, it was all Lady Falcons as they outscored their hosts 7-1 the rest of the way. Eric Caldwell led the barrage, netting seven goals in the victory. Christina Ball and Rachel Bridges each scored a pair and Jackie Lynch had the other one.

Cassidy O’Hara finished with 12 saves in the net.
