Bobby Bray has been fantastic for Post 188 thus far this season and the hard-throwing right-hander continued his hot summer with perhaps his best game of the year so far on Saturday night. The fireballer fanned 15 in an 8-4 win by the Sandwich-based American Legion team over Whitman on Sunday.

Bray, who has given up just a single earned run over three starts, all of which have been wins, improved to 3-0 on the season.

Jason Hendy went 2-for-2 with two walks and a home run in the game, and Bray also had a pair of hits as did Mike Janerico and Spencer Perlmuter.

On Friday night, Post 188 committed three errors, giving up five runs in the top of the first at Doran Park in Bourne to visiting Orleans Post 308, losing 10-8. The home team got a run back in the second, but Orleans exploded for five more in the top of the third leaving Post 188 in a position of clawing their way back.

Slowly they did, beginning with a four-run burst in the bottom of the third and another in the fifth to cut the score to 10-6. Kyle Kaspryzk pitched the final two frames for Post 188 holding Orleans scoreless, but the best the bats could muster were two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Tom Canning took the loss for Post 188. Bobby Bray finished the night 3-for-4 with two singles, a triple and three runs scored. Spencer Perlmuter went 3-for-3, with a double, two singles, two RBI and two runs scored and was hit by a pitch. Both teams finished the night with 13 hits apiece.
