The Blue Knight cross-country team wrapped up the fall season on Saturday at the All-State Meet held at Northfield Mountain.

Sandwich placed fourth in a field of 19 teams competing in Division 2. Senior James Wegman led the Knights over the 5K course finishing 31st in a field of 177 runners posting a time of 17:16.59. He was followed by Henry Daniels-Koch (17:28.91) in 44th and James Silverman (17:37.98) in 53rd. Connor Guerin (17:45.80) ran 64th and Shon Koren (17:50.08) was next taking 67th place for the Knights. Jake Barry (17:52.14) took 69th place and Ian McCartney (18:14.88) finished 94th.

“They all had a good race,” Coach Mike Lavers said. “They only finished one point behind the third finisher (Newburyport). The boys had a great season, and really a great four years for the seniors on the team leading to this. They are all true students of the sport and not only have they worked hard to get themselves to be where they are, but have done a great job of teaching their younger teammates what it is to be a cross-country runner.”

Junior Tory Sivco represented the Lady Knights finishing 23rd overall in the D2 girls’ race with a time of 20:03.89.

“The girls’ team also had a good season,” Coach Lavers said. “We have three of the top 10 graduating, but have a lot of potential returning next year.”

Members of the Sandwich boys’ team and Sivco will be competing tomorrow at the Nike Northeast Regionals in Wappingers Falls, New York.
