As Dorothy pointed out after her crazy ride to Oz, “There’s no place like home”.

The Barnstable High gymnastics team finally got to strut its stuff in front of the home crowd and did not disappoint the faithful, cruising past visiting Plymouth North/South 139.7-114.7 at Gymport in Yarmouth on Monday.

The Red Raiders got first-place finishes from four gymnasts and had no problem pushing their record to 3-0 on the season.

In fact, the Red Raiders posted the top three scores in each of the four events with senior co-captains Britt Morris and Kara Campbell leading the way.

Morris claimed all-around honors with her point total of 34.75 while Campbell came through with a stellar first-place performance on the beam.

Taylor Lahteine put the Red Raiders on the right road when he topped the field in the vault, earning the night’s best score of 9.4.

Lahteine’s vault capped a solid team effort that saw Morris put up a 9.25, JoJo Leveroni earn a 9.2 and Jackie Hansen closed out the BHS scoring with her score of 8.9.

Also competing for the Red Raiders in the event were Erin O’Connell (8.65) and Jasmine Opie (7.4).

Morris gave the Red Raiders first place on the bars when she nailed her landing and earned a score of 9.0.

Barnstable also got standout scoring efforts from Ashley Barattini (8.7), Leveroni (8.6) and Hansen (8.3) that gave the Red Raiders an insurmountable lead midway through the meet.

The Red Raiders also got solid routines from Campbell (8.2) and Opie (7.0).

The depth of the Red Raiders became more evident when Campbell gave the home team another first-place finish when she won the balance beam event with a score of 8.9.

Rounding out the BHS effort in the event were Morris (8.3) and O’Connell (8.1).

Carving Up the Crusaders

After an extended layoff from meet competition, the Red Raiders got back into action last Friday and brought home a 134.6-128.45 win over Carver.

The Crusaders’ Haley Lyons was the night’s all-around winner with 34.1 points but everything else was all Red Raiders.

Morris led a strong Barnstable effort on the vault as she posted the night’s top score when she took first place with her score of 8.9.

Lahteine finished right behind his teammate, coming through with a score of 8.7, Leveroni earned an 8.3 and Campbell closed out the BHS scoring with her 7.9.

Also competing for the Red Raiders were O’Connell (7.7) and Liz Brady (7.3).The Red Raiders shared first place on the bars when Barattini and Lyons both earned scores of 8.8.

After that it was all BHS as each of the other five Red Raiders posted scores better than Carver’s number two finishers.

Leveroni gave both Lyons and Barattini a run for their money as she came through with an 8.75 while Jackie Hansen earned an 8.6, Morris an 8.2, Campbell an 8.1 and Opie a 7.95.

The Crusaders took first and second place on the balance beam but Campbell denied the Crusaders a sweep when she posted a score of 8.6 to top the BHS scoring in the event.

Any thoughts the Crusaders had about a come-from-behind win disappeared into the cold winter’s night when Leveroni and Barattini came through with matching scores of 8.6 to share the first-place finish in the floor exercises and Morris took second place with her score of 8.5.

Campbell closed out the BHS scoring with her score of 8.2 while O’Connell (8.0) and Hansen (7.6) also delivered solid performances.
