The Barnstable High gymnastics took another step toward an undefeated regular season by cruising past longtime rival Case 141.55-136.2 at Gymport in Yarmouth on Tuesday.
In running their season’s mark to 6-0, the Red Raiders were again led by their senior captains, Britt Morris and Kara Campbell with Morris taking all-around honors with her score of 36.4 while Campbell came through with a personal best score of 8.9 in the floor exercises as well as strong performances on the bars and on the beam.
The Red Raiders had just too much depth for the Cardinals to contend with as the home team also got outstanding performances from Ashley Barattini, JoJo Leveroni, Jasmine Opie, Erin O’Connell and Jackie Hanson.
For Morris, who took first in the vault, bars and floor exercises, this was her best meet of the season to date, racking up a 9.3 on the vault, a 9.15 on the bars, an 8.6 on the beam and a meet-best score of 9.35 in the floor exercises.
Campbell earned an 8.7 on the bars and an 8.3 on the beam before delivering an 8.9 with her floor routine.
The Cardinals, who lost one of the state’s best gymnasts to graduation last June, had no answers for the Red Raiders as Barattini helped extend her team’s lead with an 8.95 on the bars, a first-place score of 8.7 on the beam and a floor routine that earned a 9.1.
The Red Raiders also got standout efforts from Leveroni, who took second in the floor exercises with a 9.25, Opie, who was fourth on the vault (8.7), fourth on the bars (8.55) and fourth on the beam (8.6) and O’Connell, who took third place in the vault (8.9).
