The Barnstable High gymnastics team took its show on the road last Saturday and took second place at the Shrewsbury Invitational Meet.

Algonquin Regional, which finished second behind the Red Raiders at last year’s South Sectionals, took first place with a score of 140.55, while the Barnstable girls finished with a score of 139.9.

Third place went to the host team with a score of 139.15 while Danvers finished in fourth place with a score of 132.2.

The difference in the battle between the Red Raiders and Tomahawks was the balance beam as the ARHS squad earned a total of 35.10 points to Barnstable’s 33.7.

Barnstable’s Britt Morris came away with all-around honors as she compiled 39.95 points with Algonquin’s Amanda Hubley finishing in second place with a total of 35.8 points.

Morris set the tone for the Red Raiders in the vault as she earned a score of 9.0 while teammates Jackie Hansen, Tyler Lahteine and JoJo Leveroni all posted scores of 8.8.

The BHS co-captain also led the Red Raiders on the bars as she came through with a score of 9.1.

Also scoring for the Red Raiders in the event were Ashley Barattini with an 8.8, Leveroni with an 8.4 and co-captain Kara Campbell with a 7.8.

Action on the beam saw Morris lead the Barnstable effort with an 8.8 while Barattini added an 8.6, Leveroni an 8.2 and Campbell an 8.1.

The Red Raiders made a charge that came up just short in the floor exercises as all four Barnstable girls came through with scores above 9.0.

Leveroni topped the BHS scoring with her 9.45 while Barattini added a 9.2, Morris a 9.05 and Campbell a 9.0.
