Sophomore Tyler Genereux went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Massachusetts Maritime to an 8-1 nonleague college baseball victory over Gordon Tuesday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.
The host Buccaneers (5-3) extended their winning streak to five straight by scoring all of the runs they would need in the second inning, as a two-run single by Genereux was followed by a two-run double off the bat of senior Michael Vargas as a part of a four-run outburst.

MMA 11, Rivier 1
Tyler Genereux and freshman Keith Sanchez combined for 22 strikeouts in 13 innings of work on the mound to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a sweep of a nonleague college baseball doubleheader from Rivier on Sunday afternoon by scores of 3-1 in the opener and 11-1 in the nightcap in games played at Commodore Hendy Field.

Sophomore Zachary Sullivan rapped out three hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead MMA to a 4-1 nightcap victory and a sweep of a nonleague college baseball doubleheader of Lyndon State Saturday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field. The Buccaneers used a two-out, two-strike single off the bat of senior Greg Wiggin in the bottom of the eighth inning of the opener to claim a 4-3 triumph in the first outing of the twin bill.

Thomas College senior Sarah Estes rapped out a pair of hits and drove in five runs to lift the Terriers to a sweep of a nonleague college softball doubleheader from Massachusetts Maritime (0-4) Sunday afternoon by scores of 11-0 in the opener and 12-3 in the nightcap in games played at Alison Rollins Field.

Junior Katelyn Willey rapped out a pair of hits and drove in five runs to lead Lyndon State to a sweep of a nonleague college softball doubleheader of Massachusetts Maritime by scores of 9-1 in the opener and 8-3 in the nightcap in the season opening contests for both teams played Saturday afternoon at Alison Rollins Field.

Lacrosse
Plymouth State 11, MMA 7
Senior Andrew Eriksen netted a hat trick and two assists for five points to lead Plymouth State to an 11-7 nonleague college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime (1-3) Tuesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium. Eriksen scored twice in a five-goal, second-quarter outburst that enabled the visiting Panthers (3-1) to overcome a 3-1 first quarter deficit and take a 6-5 advantage at the break. Senior Ryann Linn from Bourne picked up an assist for the Buccaneers.
New York 7, MMA 5
Senior Seth Collins netted a pair of goals and an assist for three points to lead New York Maritime to a 7-5 nonleague college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the third annual Maritime Cup match played Saturday afternoon at Rheinhardt Field.

Track and Field
The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track and field team began its 2011 season with solid individual performances at the nonscoring Northeastern Husky Spring Open on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Rory O’Donnell and junior Chris Sullo, the reigning MASCAC champions in the triple jump and high jump respectively, picked up where they left off from last season for the Buccaneers, as Sullo was third in the high jump (1.88 meters) and seventh in the triple jump (12.30 meters) while O’Donnell finished fifth in the high jump (1.78 meters) and sixth in the triple jump (13.08 meters). Senior Jason McWhirter and sophomore Rob Bergonzi also posted a top tandem finish for Massachusetts Maritime in the 3,000 meter steeplechase by placing sixth (11:56.88) and eighth (12:41.87) respectively, in the event.
Senior Meredith Hall also picked up where she left off last season with a ninth-place finish in the javelin (32.85 meters), while junior Mike Bois and freshman Robert Gratzer posted 10th-place performances in the long jump (5.60 meters) and discus (35.63 meters) respectively.
