The Blue Knights (4-2, 3-0 ACL) came out shooting Tuesday, April 15, at Dennis-Yarmouth (1-4), dealing the Dolphins a 13-4 defeat. Sandwich jumped out to a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and built that into an 8-3 lead by the break.
“We took the game from the start,” coach Mike McNeill said. “We dominated the face-off in the second, third and fourth quarters.”
The teams split 3-3 in face-offs in the opening 12-minute quarter.
Zach Gorrasi led the charge for the Knights with six goals and three assists. Nick Buttafuoco added another four goals and three assists, with Jameson Buttafuoco picking up four assists.
“Pat Plummer, Peter Davis, Brendan Barrett, Sam Carl and Chris Rezendes, all senior midfielders played very well for us at both ends of the field for us,” coach McNeill said. “Max Wojnar and Joe Boudrow played great defense for us behind the leadership of our newest captain, Ben Maciel.”
Maciel joins Nick Buttafuoco and Owen Gaffney as team captains.
“Jack Branco did a nice job up top,” the coach said, “and Connor Mangelson gave us a solid effort on defense.”

By the end of the third quarter the Knights held a 12-3 advantage. Eric Steele finished the day with six saves in goal and Brian Wahle and Jordan Leary scored their first varsity goals, with Leary also
adding an assist. Plummer rounded out the scoring for the Knights.
