The “Celebration of American Automobiles” event at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich scheduled for Saturday, August 29, is being rescheduled to Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

“Unfortunately, severe inclement weather is predicted for Sandwich over the next few days. The amount of rain predicted makes it impossible for us to conduct this event on our originally planned rain date of Sunday, August 30. The fields will be too wet to bring out our collection vehicles,” Heritage announced in a release.

Vehicles from the museum’s collection will be on display around the grounds and will be exercised throughout the day. Hoods will be open in the museum’s auto exhibit “From Carriage to Classic: How Automobiles Transformed America,” and members of Heritage’s automobile committee and the director of collections and exhibitions will be on hand to talk shop and answer questions.

There will be family challenges and a scavenger hunt. Visitors are invited to share photos, videos and stories of their own vehicles on Facebook and Instagram.

Heritage Museums & Gardens is at 67 Grove Street in Sandwich.

Visitors are asked to purchase tickets in advance at Visitors must abide by social distancing protocols and must wear masks both inside and outside while on the grounds.
