The Osterville Village Library will present an author talk and book signing with local author Janice Robinson Daly on Friday, November 4, at 11 AM. Ms. Daly will discuss the real-life inspiration behind her book “The Unlocked Path,” a novel that chronicles one woman's quest for empowerment and equal standing in the medical field as Eliza Pearson Edwards opts for a profession in medicine in lieu of a family society debut. In 1897 Philadelphia, such a bold move was unheard of.

Also upcoming will be a talk featuring author and Boston historian Anthony Sammarco on the 1872 Great Boston Fire, which destroyed more than 700 buildings over more than 65 acres of city land stretching from Washington Street to the waterfront. Mr. Sammarco’s new book “Inferno: The Great Boston Fire” commemorates the 150th anniversary of the event.
