Following on the heels of their “Laughter is the Best Medicine” show, Flapjacks! Comedy Productions will present “Comedy for a Kidney” on Monday, November 18, a comedy fundraiser to benefit a local teenager who is awaiting a kidney transplant.
Sixteen-year old Trevor Keuhn of Sandwich was born with two failing kidneys and is currently awaiting a transplant. By donating a portion of ticket sale proceeds and hosting a 50/50 raffle at the show, “Comedy for a Kidney” will help Trevor's family raise the money they need to get through the transplant and post-surgical recovery.
Performing at “Comedy for a Kidney” will be musical comedian Dave Andrews alongside Mitch Stinson and host Paul Nardizzi.
Dave Andrews draws on his interesting background to showcase his talents. A classically trained vocalist with jazz guitar chops and a love of the blues harmonica, his act is a blend of humor, music and nostalgia. Mr. Andrews has entertained at over 100 college campuses and been the opening act for rock 'n' rollers like Huey Lewis and the News, Aaron Neville, Glady Knight, and KC and the Sunshine Band. With over 30 years' performing experience he is a repeat performer for Carnival Cruise Lines and Caesar's Pocono Resorts.
Mitch Stinson also has an interesting background. A former aircraft-carrier aviator for the United States Navy who, as a pilot, made over 200 carrier landings during his 10 year military career. Mr. Stinson has been rising through the comedy ranks in the Northeast by virtue of his original material that offers insight into the transition from hot-shot Navy pilot to everyday civilian life.
Host Paul Nardizzi began his career doing stand up comedy in Boston and has made numerous appearances on Conan O'Brien and Comedy Central. Mr. Nardizzi has won the Boston Comedy Festival Competition and is one of the most requested acts on XM Satellite Radio.
The show will take place beginning at 7 PM at the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through the Flapjack! Comedy website or by calling 508-274-2190.
The Coonamessett is located at 311 Gifford Street in Falmouth.
