Upcoming virtual programming at the Barnstable Adult Community Center includes a talk on Sunday, December 20, at 2 PM titled “The Voyage of the Windbird.” In October of 2005 Judy Handley and her late husband, Mark, boarded their 42-foot sailboat Windbird and sailed out of Boston Harbor. Six year later they sailed into Woods Hole having logged almost 39,000 miles and having visited 36 countries on five continents. Ms. Handley describes herself as a reluctant sailor and wasn’t sure when they left that she’d make it all the way around the world, but she did.

On Monday, December 21, at 11 AM author Anthony Sammarco will talk about his new book, “Christmas Traditions In Boston.” The program will review the history of festivities, or lack of, for the holiday, including the introduction of the Christmas tree, Christmas cards, and how Bostonians have celebrated the season through the centuries.

Registration is required for both events. Call 508-862-4750 or email susan.griffin@town.barnstable.ma.us. After registering participants will receive a link to the program.
