Following on the success of their spring series, Eventide Theatre Company is hosting a summer Drop-In Shakespeare series on Thursday evenings through August 27. The lineup includes “Troilus and Cressida” on July 23; “Comedy of Errors” on July 30; “Henry IV (Part I)” on August 13; and “The Tempest” on August 27. The August 6 event will feature a mid-summer sonnet slam in the style of a poetry slam, and the reading on August 20 will deviate from Shakespeare and instead tackle “The Alchemist” by Ben Jonson.

The readings begin at 6 PM, the signup link for roles will be posted on Facebook beginning at 5 PM. Readers can choose the parts they want on a first-come-first-served basis. The reading is conducted on the Zoom conferencing app. No experience is required, and readings are not limited to members of Eventide Theatre Company. Anyone in the community can drop in and sign up to read. Following the live event, the reading will be posted online for viewing at one’s convenience.
