The Falmouth Art Center’s Holiday Market and Gift Gallery opens this weekend with hundreds of handmade items from local artists and crafters.
The market stretches for five weeks, from Saturday, November 20, to Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24.
The Art Center will extend its hours for the Holiday Market, opening Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 4 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sundays from 1 to 4 PM.
The Holiday Market takes up the entire first floor of the art center. One room is devoted to handmade pottery by the center’s instructors and advanced students. The other two rooms are set up with a wide variety of other gifts, including paintings, prints and photos to hang on the wall; handmade knitted and woven scarfs, bags and clothes; jewelry, cards, ornaments, books, papercrafts, fiber crafts, baskets, handmade soaps, locally made hot sauce and much more.
“We had more than 1,000 items in the market last year,” center director Laura Reckford said. For people who like to browse online before shopping, the art center will post photos of the market plus a video showing the displays on the center’s website at FalmouthArt.org.
The Falmouth Art Center is at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth.
