FCTV Monday Painters

“The Pink Ones” is a watercolor by Kathleen C. Taylor, a member of the Monday Morning Painters. The group of plein air painters is currently showing their work at FCTV’s art gallery.

Artwork by The Monday Morning Painters will be on display at The Gallery at FCTV through October 2.

The Monday Morning Painters is a plein air painting group based at the Falmouth Art Center. The 10 members of the group that will be showing their art are: Mary Costa, Mary Carroll, Peter F. Daley, Sigrid Hecker, Carol Knox, Ellen Lennon, Jennifer Ray, Kathy Taylor, Cathy van der Bil and Gloria Warren.

Ms. Costa attended the Art Institute of Boston and enjoys painting all subject matter. She has won numerous ribbons, and her paintings are in many private collections.

Ms. Carroll is a plein air painter. She has a bachelor of fine arts degree from UMass Dartmouth and has been in many group and solo shows. Her paintings are oil-on-canvas and her signature work consists of bold brushwork with an attention to depth.

Mr. Daley is a retired college administrator and art teacher. A graduate of the Museum School of Fine Arts and Tufts University, Mr. Daley is a watercolor artist.

Ms. Hecker is a local artist with 20 years of portrait and landscape painting experience. Her preferred medium is oil; her style leans toward impressionism.

Ms. Knox continues to be inspired by the beauty of the natural world. In her paintings she works to depict the beauty of natural habitats, particularly coastal New England and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Most of her current painting is done in oil, although she also paints in watercolor and pastel.

Ms. Lennon studied art at Bridgewater State and New England School of Art in Boston. Since moving to Falmouth she has found endless subject material and beautiful light. She paints in many mediums but prefers watercolor and oils.

Ms. Ray holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design from Carnegie-Mellon University. After working in that field for close to 30 years she began studying watercolor several years ago.

Ms. Taylor is from a family of artists and started painting with her mother, Anna. Later she studied at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association in Michigan. In Falmouth she has participated in shows at the Falmouth Art Center, the Woods Hole Community Center and the West Falmouth Library.

Ms. van der Bil has had a lifelong interest in art. Using watercolor to interpret the world has been her latest passion. She enjoys working at home painting from everyday objects, as well as with the plein air group.

Ms. Warren joined the Falmouth Art Center shortly after moving to Cape Cod. Her favorite medium is pastels, which she uses to convey the peace and beauty of the Cape.

The Gallery at FCTV is located within the new Falmouth Community Media Center at 310 Dillingham Avenue. The new entrance is on the opposite side of the old FCTV and Maser Gallery building.

Gallery exhibit hours are Sunday from noon to 8 PM, Monday from 2 to 10 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 10 PM, and Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
