Fifty years after the original Woodstock of 1969, the Sandwich Arts Alliance is paying homage to the iconic music festival with Sandwich’s own Sandstock, an anniversary celebration for all ages, featuring local Arts Alliance musicians.
On Saturday from noon to 4 PM, the public is invited to relax on the lawn and enjoy the outdoor concert taking place on the bandstand behind the Wing School at 33 Water Street in Sandwich.
The four hours of free music will highlight the same playlist of songs from Woodstock 1969. Attendees are encouraged to dress in period costumes, wear love beads, bring peace and flower power signs, and enjoy a picnic on the grass with family and friends. Dancing and singalongs are encouraged.
Sandwich Arts Alliance musicians to date include John Williams, Rumble Wagon, Kathleen Healy, Jimmy Ellis, Nils Soderberg, Bill Hendy, Christina Nordstrom, Christie Lowrance, Bobby Gage, Leslie Gage and Vic Hucklebuck. Mark Snyder will be Master of Ceremonies.
Sandstock will take place rain or shine.
