Brewster artist Gretchen Romey-Tanzer at her weaving loom

Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster is presenting the new exhibit “Hand Weaving” by artist Gretchen Romey-Tanzer now through December 30.

Ms. Romey-Tanzer’s handwoven pieces are made with fine cotton thread using a double weave technique. The finished fabric is hand-sewn to a stretched linen canvas over a wood frame for hanging on a wall. Her works are in the collections of The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, and many private collections. In 2019, she was awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist’s Fellowship in Crafts. Ms. Romey-Tanzer has been weaving, teaching, and living on Cape Cod for 35 years.

Entry to the Naturescape Gallery is free with museum admission.

Hours at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History are Wednesdays through Sundays, 11 AM to 3 PM.
