WFPL Yoko Miwa

Jazz pianist Yoko Miwa will perform on Sunday, January 19 at the West Falmouth Library. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at www.FalmouthJazz.org or in person at Eight Cousins Books in Falmouth, West Falmouth Library, or at the door (cash) while they last.

Jazz pianist Yoko Miwa and her trio will appear Sunday at 4 PM at the West Falmouth Library as part of a series to support the renovation of the library’s piano. The concert is co-sponsored by West Falmouth Library and Falmouth Jazz. Tickets are available for $30 at www.FalmouthJazz.org, in the library, or at Eight Cousins Books.

Ms. Miwa came to Boston to study jazz at the Berklee School of Music after the 1995 earthquake in her native Kobe, Japan, where she was classically trained at the Kobe Conservatory. She has been a rising star since then. She has played at top clubs including Scullers, Birdland and the BlueNote, and appears at major jazz festivals.

She and her trio have recorded eight albums. Her 2019 release, “Keep Talkin’,” was rated one of Downbeat Jazz Magazine’s Best of 2019 in the four star category. Now an associate professor at Berklee, Ms. Miwa was just awarded Jazz Artist of the Year honors in the Boston Music Awards competition.

The West Falmouth Library is at 575 West Falmouth Highway.
