CCMNH Sharks

Dr. Greg Skomal will give an update on his latest research and findings on the local white shark population during a lecture March 5 at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will be hosting Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Shark Research Program on Thursday, March 5.

For the last 10 years Dr. Skomal has been studying the life history, ecology, and behavior of white sharks off the coast of Cape Cod and beyond. In doing so he has tagged more than 230 white sharks with a variety of new technologies to drill deeper into how this top predator hunts seals off the coast of the Cape. The talk will include the most up-to-date findings based on this research.

Dr. Skomal is a senior fisheries biologist with Massachusetts Marine Fisheries. He currently heads up the Massachusetts Shark Research Program and for the last six years has directed scientific research on great white sharks off the coast of Cape Cod.

Tickets for the presentation are $50 per person. Reservations are required. All proceeds will benefit the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History’s education programs.

Doors will open for wine and hors d’oeuvres at 6 PM. The lecture will begin at 6:30 PM.

Tickets are available at www.ccmnh.org.
